Concept 3.8 SL
This odd-looking stretch limousine is a Concept 3.8 SL, which was built by Concept Coach Builders, Ltd., located at 252 East Menomonee Street in the Historic Third Ward in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The company was founded by Scott Sampson and closed in 1996, and the building was demolished in 2013 to build student apartments for the Milwaukee Institute of Art & Design. This car is based on a 1987-1989 Buick LeSabre T-Type, though Concept Coach Builders also made similar cars based on the Oldsmobile Delta 88. The car was extended 45-1/4 inches, with the original 53-inch coupe doors used as the back doors. The rear compartment seated six and had 30 inches of legroom. Standard features included heavy-duty suspension and rear air leveling, heavy-duty heat and air conditioning, a 4-speaker AM/FM/Cassette Sony sound system, gooseneck directional reading lights, an electric privacy division window, velour seating, and under-seat briefcase storage. Available options included a modular bar, VCR, multi-line cellular telephone, fax machine, and stock exchange hookup. Concept Coach Builders also offered the 3.8 SLD with an extending rear seat for the mobility impaired. I spotted this example on Oregon State Highway 34 just west of Lebanon, Oregon, on February 1, 2007.
