1956 GMC Suburban Town & Country Pickup
Introduced in 1955, the Suburban Town & Country was GMC’s version of Chevrolet’s Cameo pickup. Like the Cameo, the Suburban Town & Country featured a more luxurious interior and fiberglass rear fender covers to create the first smooth-side box. This 1956 model, one of only about 200 built that year, is powered by an optional 155-horsepower 317-cubic-inch Pontiac V8 engine with a 2-barrel carburetor and a 7.4 to 1 compression ratio. Other options include a Hydramatic automatic transmission, two-tone cab, large rear window, tinted glass and whitewall tires. It was displayed at the 2001 Chicago Auto Show by the Volo Auto Museum.

GMC CCKW 2-1/2-Ton 6x6 Cargo Truck
I spotted this GMC CCKW 2-1/2-Ton 6x6 Cargo Truck from World War II in Elbe, Washington, in the summer of 1998. The CCKW was introduced in 1941 with an enclosed cab. The flat vertical windshield indicates that this truck is an open cab version, built between 1943 and 1945, with a solid roof and doors grafted on later. With over a half-million produced, the CCKW was one of the most numerous vehicles built for the U.S. Military during World War II, second only to the Jeep.

2009 GMC Sierra Hybrid
The GMC Sierra Hybrid became available in early 2009, in two-wheel-drive & four-wheel-drive crew cab short box models. The two-mode hybrid system includes a 322-horsepower 6.0-liter V8 and two 60-kilowatt electronic motors in an electronically variable 4-speed automatic transmission. The Sierra Hybrid can be powered by the electric motors at speeds of up to 30 miles per hour and will deliver fuel economy of up to 21 miles per gallon in the city and 22 miles per gallon on the highway with the two-wheel-drive version or 20 miles per gallon with the four wheel drive version, but still have a 6,100-pound trailer rating when needed.
